Blackberry Torch 9800

Research In Motion (RIM) telah memperkenalkan BlackBerry Torch 9800. Gadget dengan layar sentuh plus keyboard Qwerty geser ini diharapkan bisa membuat BlackBerry menyusul Android.


Torch diumumkan dalam sebuah acara di New York. Dengan menggandeng operator AT&T, operator ekslusif iPhone di Amerika Serikat, mau tidak mau Torch akan dibanding-bandingkan dengan iPhone.


Inilah ulasan mengenai spesifikasi BlackBerry Torch 9800


BlackBerry Torch menggunakan layar sentuh ala iPhone dan banyak ponsel Android. Selain itu, terdapat sebuah keyboard Qwerty geser yang tentunya sudah akrab di banyak pengguna BlackBerry.


BlackBerry Torch memiliki tinggi 11,1 cm dalam keadaan tertutup. Jika keyboard Qwerty gesernya dibuka, tingginya mencapai 14,8 cm. Sedangkan dari sisi lebar, perangkat ini memiliki lebar 6,2 cm. Tebalnya pun cukup lumayan pada 1,46 cm.


Tebal Torch memang cukup terasa di genggaman, apalagi kalau mau dibandingkan dengan iPhone 4 (0,9 cm) atau bahkan iPhone 3GS (1,2 cm). Namun hal itu wajar mengingat adanya keyboard geser di belakang layar.


Bahkan, Torch boleh dibilang tidak terlalu tebal untuk sebuah BlackBerry. Jika dibandingkan dengan BlackBerry Bold 9700 (Onyx), Torch memiliki tebal yang relatif sama (Onyx: 14,1 cm, Torch: 14,6 cm).


Lebar Torch juga tak jauh berbeda dengan Onyx — hanya 0,2 cm lebih lebar — sehingga pengguna Onyx tak akan terlalu asing saat memegang Torch 9800. Boleh dibilang, Torch adalah Onyx yang ‘diiris’ dan dipasangi layar sentuh di depannya.


Navigasi, Prosesor dan Baterai


Layar yang digunakan BlackBerry Torch adalah HVGA 3.2″ dengan resolusi 480×360. Agaknya teknologi layar ini akan berbeda dengan BlackBerry Storm yang menggunakan teknologi SurePress, yang kadang dijuluki sebagai ‘layar goyang’.


Selain langsung di layar sentuh, navigasi Torch bisa dilakukan juga melalui TrackPad yang ada di bagian depan. Selain itu, terdapat sebuah keyboard Qwerty geser yang tentunya sudah akrab di banyak pengguna BlackBerry. Keyboard Qwerty yang tersembunyi di belakang memiliki bentuk tombol seperti Onyx.


Memori yang disediakan untuk Torch adalah 512 MB SDRAM, 4GB eMMC dan bisa ditambahkan microSD hingga 32 GB. Sedangkan prosesornya memiliki clock 624 MHz — lagi-lagi, setara dengan yang digunakan pada Onyx.


Kalau dari sisi baterai, Torch menggunakan Lithium Ion 1300 mAH, lebih ‘tipis’ dari Onyx yang ada di 1500 mAH. Hal itu, ditambah layar Torch yang memang lebih besar, mengurangi kemampuan teoritis baterainya menjadi 5,5 jam talktime dibanding 6 jam pada Onyx.
